Robust Ceramic Engineering for Demanding Space Applications.

Glassbond has been manufacturing High Performance Materials under licence from Sauereisen Inc for almost 40 years. Due to their integrity and strength, they provide excellent sealing, encapsulating and bonding properties required by the Aerospace industry.  Ideal for applications where extreme cold and heat exposure are commonplace.

Products

Air Set Materials.

These advanced materials require no chemical catalyst, making them well suited to space sector manufacturing processes. With standard curing times of 18–24 hours, which can be accelerated through heat application, they offer production flexibility while delivering key performance characteristics including fire resistance, gas impermeability, and high-temperature stability.

Suited to thin applications.

Chemical Set Materials.

Designed for the extreme operating conditions, these materials maintain performance across a temperature range from cryogenic levels to 1600°C. Their rapid cure time of just 30–90 minutes, combined with the ability to cure effectively in large volumes and thick sections, makes them ideal for potting, casting, thermal protection, and other space manufacturing applications.

Types of Applications

From bonding, sealing, encapsulating to coating, the versatility of our range means that we will have a solution to your engineering needs. These are some of the applications that our products have been proven to work in:

Space Capsules

The ability to withstand temperatures up to 1600°C and extreme thermal shock makes these materials highly effective for bonding structures on space capsules and hypersonic vehicles.

Satellite Structures and Instrument Housing

Our high performance materials can withstand considerate thermal cycling as well as maintaining their dimensional integrity. This makes them ideal for bonding multi-layer insulation (MLI) and ceramic blankets.

Rocket Propulsion Systems

Being able to handle extreme heat and vibrations makes these products suitable bonding refractory materials and sealing joints to prevent hot gas leaks.

Thermocouples, Strain Gauges & Heat Sensors

Our high performance materials can be used to pot thermocouples and heat sensors and bond strain gauges and heat sensors to engines, fuel lines and other structural components due to their high temperature stability and electrical insulation properties.

Electronic & Power Systems

The high thermal conductivity and electrical insulation properties of these products makes them highly effective at bonding and potting electrical components.

Space Telescopes, Lenses & Optical Mounts

The dimensional stability and low shrinkage of these high performance materials make them ideal for bonding mirrors, lenses and optical mounts.
